No hard-fast rule. As long as the writing keeps the reader reading is what’s important. I’m still experimenting. I like to use a chapter as a single scene. Some authors prefer multiple scenes a chapter. I prefer the smaller bites, because that’s the way I enjoy reading.
I feel shorter is better. I don’t have the attention span for dense chapters. Many authors disagree with me, so there’s no hard, right answer. It’s all what the reader wants.
